Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) is a world wide organization dedicated to provide necessary platform for interaction between applied mathematicians and other scientific and technological communities.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore hosts an official SIAM Student Chapter. IISc is one of the premier institute for advanced scientific and technological research and education in India. More than 3500 researchers in the campus are involved with cutting edge fundamental and interdisciplinary research.
Main objective of IISc-SIAM Student Chapter is to organize and promote activities at IISc related to cooperation between applied mathematics and various areas of Science and Technology. The Chapter events also help researchers to find a peer group and a place to exchange ideas which can be pivotal in shaping up their research careers.
As a part of the IISc-SIAM Student Chapter activities, talks from both experts and student members are organized at regular intervals. The Chapter activities also include Industrial Outreach, Math Outreach programmes to nearby schools/colleges, MATLAB/Open Source Math software workshops, Documentaries screening related to mathematics etc. Through its multifarious set of events, IISc-SIAM Student Chapter is committed to play an important role in stimulating the pursuit of knowledge of fellow researchers.
